Nuno Felted Scarf with Martha Lumia



Using un-spun wool (roving) and silk, you will felt a very soft, drapeable scarf, learning how to incorporate merino wool into a 100% silk fabric base ~ it’s magical!  

Materials Required for Purchase by student:
1.  Silk scarf blanks in a variety of colors they can purchased from Martha ($10/$15).   She finds it best for to provide the silk fabric to ensure using the right type of silk that will result in satisfied students. 
2.  Each student will also need approximately 2 oz of 100% Merino top or a blend of 80% Merino/ 20% silk blend roving. (Will be available at HOKC in February)
3.  Couple of old bath towels & a plastic grocery bag.

ill provide a variety of wool and other types of yarn for embellishments. Students are welcome to bring their own as well. She will provide for each student pool/spa bubble wrap, pool noodle, plastic cover, nylon/polyester curtain fabric, t-shirt strips to use as ties, soap, bowls, and sprinkler bottles.

Instructor Bio: Martha Lumia: Artist Statement: I'm a fiber artist located in Idyllwild, CA. I create wearable art, wall art and 3D sculptures all one-of-a-kind. My technique is wet felting, with an emphasis on Nuno felting, where I use a combination of wool roving, silk, cotton gauze and other natural breathable fibers to create a new colorful, textural fabric the process is magical!
