Overshots are exciting patterned weaves. Once used almost exclusively for coverlets, they lend themselves to wonderfully decorative scarves, shawls, clothing, and household linens. You will explore Monk’s Belt, Diamonds and Roses while you make a scarf.
You will need a loom at least 10-inches wide with a 7.5-dent heddle (Looms are available to rent at $25 per week from HOKC on a first-come-first-served basis). One or two pickup sticks. You will need at least 2 shuttles.
Recommended yarns: 600 yards of Sport or DK-weight yarn in one color. 300 yards of worsted-weight yarn in a second color. Fiber content should be compatible, and pleasant to wear against the skin. (Varigated yarns are not recommended.)
