Susan Rainey: An Introduction to Stranded Knitting

Stranded knitting encompasses many popular and exciting styles: fair isle, Norwegian, mosaic, Swedish Bohus.  Susan will describe stranded knitting basics: how to read charts, the role of color dominance, and how to attain proper tension.  How do you feel about cutting your knitting?  Susan will discuss the what and why of “steeks.”  She will also provide a brief overview of different ways to do two-color knitting.

This will be in lecture format with an opportunity for you to ask questions.  If you love this and want to do more, you'll want to sign up for the class she will be teaching.

Instructor: Susan Rainey
Instructor Bio: Susan Rainey is a passionate and enthusiastic knitter, and has been for over 50 years. She appreciates both the journey and the destination, and loves diving head first into the amazing variety of knitting - lace, cables, colorwork, knitting with beads. Susan is known for her technical expertise and flawless finishing. Susan has won countless ribbons at the highly competitive Minnesota State Fair, including many sweepstakes awards. Susan teaches knitting classes and dabbles in design. She shares her passion for knitting with her equally obsessed sister, Sally, on their blog "The Rainey Sisters" at, which has been going strong for 15 years.
