Weaver-controlled Ombre with Peggy on Zoom
Classification: Technique
Weave Structure: Tabby
Project: 2 Placemats
Class will be 10:00a.m. to 4:00p.m.
You will be using 3 colors of warp to make a pair of ombre placemats. They will make a nice gift for giving or for yourself. The weave structure is a tabby. You may use direct or indirect warping method.
Yarn Kit will include 1 skein of Berroco Pima Cotton 100, White, plus
Sidar Happy Cotton collection in Petunia (colors 755, 799, 763), Nightshade (colors 775, 759, 762) or Batchelor's Button (colors 758, 797 796):
2 balls of dark color
3 balls of medium color
2 balls of light color
If you are indirect warping, you may measure off the project warp ahead of time. You will need 40 ends of your dark color, 60 ends of your medium color, and 30 ends of your light color. The warp needs to be at least 60 inches long. The skein of Berroco Pima Cotton 100 will be the weft.
The first part of the class will be focused on warping to create the ombre, followed by attaching and threading the project warp.
You will need a loom and yarn for this course. Looms may be rented from HOKC for $25 per week and the rentals must be arranged in advance as supplies are limited.
