Memorial Day Knitcation on Zoom - 2026
Join us Memorial Day Weekend - Cast on Friday and Show off on Tuesday! It is really possible to knit a sweater in a long weekend. But even if you do not finish - who cares? You will have a nice start on a fabulous summer top!
There are two patterns to choose from - both by Heidi Kirrmaier - Vitamin D or Niagara
The Vitamin D pattern has short rows and uses Sport Weight yarn. It was chosen because it is flattering on many figures and is a great introduction to short rows - use whatever method you are comfortable with but consider using Japanese Short Rows (they have become my new favorite).
There is not a bad choice here - just be happy and join us. As in the past if you would like to use this time to get and UFO finished feel free to join us. We would love the company. I have listed some yarn choices at the end of this description.
All meetings are on Zoom. This is a KAL so it is FREE to join and you can use yarn from anywhere. We will do some teaching but it is also meant to help each other so bring your ideas! As usual, we will record the meetings so you can watch later if you need to (please sign up so you can get the email link).
We will meet at noon Pacific time each day with the Zoom Meeting ID below, except for Monday when the meeting will start at 11AM.

I knit my sweater with Juniper Moon’s Summer Solstice Prints.
But you could use any of the following:

- Emma’s So Sporty (I am using this one when I knit along with all of you)
- Eco Twist

- Remix Light
- Riti
- Charme
- Chaski
For Niagara any of the following would be great:
- Cotton Tweed

- DK Harmony
- Rambouilett
- Apex
- Marmel
- Manos Sami or Marla or mix them :-)
