Hat Design Basics with Nancy Bates
Have you ever dreamed of designing your own knitted beanie but not quite sure where to start? Now you can take your idea from dream to reality with beanie designer, Nancy Bates. With more than 150 published hat patterns, Nancy has learned a thing or two about designing beanies. From initial concept, to yarn, color, and stitch choices, to putting it all together ... you'll be inspired to cast on your own original design. We'll even spend a few minutes talking about pattern writing!
Please note - This is more of an "interactive lecture" as there will be no actual knitting in this class. Through lively discussion and lots of examples, Nancy will walk you through the design process from brim to crown. The last 30 minutes or so will be spent sharing your ideas and brainstorming ways to bring your design ideas to reality.
Students will be sent a PDF "agenda" to print before class, for students to take notes.
