Subtle Waves Capelet KAL with Gillian

An informal Knit-A-Long of the Subtle Waves Cowl pattern (Gillian's first, but not last, published pattern). The first of 3 one-hour sessions will be about yarns, the cast-on, the ribbed sections and the ‘hidden’ increases. Session 2 will discuss the garter ridges and the lace section. The third session will be finishing up the capelet with the I-cord bind-off.
This pattern checks off many boxes in our annual Yarno board for those of you doing Yarno. Some squares include: Ribbing, Increases/Decreases, lace, knit, and I-cord. You may also find you can use other squares such as Silk, Linen, Cotton, Cashmere, etc. depending on yarn choice.

Materials You'll Need for This KAL:
  • Approximately 525 yds for S/M, 750 yds for M/L, and 830 yds for L/XL of Sport (#2) to Worsted (#4) weight yarn. Fingering may be used but may alter the length of the capelet. Poema Cashmere from Laine du Nord would be stunning used in this pattern!

Homework:

  1. Purchase and download the pattern.

  2. If you would like to cast-on early, choose a firm cast-on for 1 x 1 Ribbing. Recommended cast-on is Alternating Cable Cast-on.

Instructor: Gillian Goldrich
Instructor Bio: Gillian learned to knit from the Reader’s Digest Craft Book, then began knitting over 45 years ago when she was pregnant with my first child and was put on bedrest. She gained confidence in her knitting by participating in test knitting and eventually started knitting samples for yarn companies and designers (Juniper Moon, Wonderland Yarns, etc.) that were featured in their publications. Most recently she became a spinner which led her to create her own design. "I hope you will enjoy knitting this pattern as much as I enjoyed designing it. I know that this is just the beginning ….".
