Labor Day Staycation KAL - Summer Softness

Welcome to our last Staycation KAL for the summer:  our Labor Day Staycation KAL.

We are very excited to have an exclusive, (for now) to us, pattern. The inspiration for this very fall-appealing pattern was worn by one of our customers when Barry Klein (of Trendsetter Yarns) happened to stop by. There was much conversation and we asked him to please, please, please, draft us the pattern! And guess what? He agreed!!!

Brigid and Debbie are modeling the same original sweater, which is a size 38. Brigid is a 36” bust and it looks great on her. Debbie would normally wear a size 46, and the original is obviously too tight. But Brigid’s is perfect for her with a nice drape and that easy fall wearability. This sweater has some ease to consider, whether you prefer a negative or a positive ease.

Name of the sweater is: Summer Softness which is also the name of the yarn!!

Size range of the Sweater (for the current pattern draft): 38",(43,48,53,58) finished chest circumference.

Amount of yarn you will need: 9 (11, 13, 15) of the 50gr balls (ready to knit with). Summer Softness is knitting up as a worsted-weight yarn, with approx. 142y per 50gr.

Gauge is 20 sts x 24 rows = 4” in Reverse Stockinette (meaning knit 1 row, purl 1 row, but the purl side with be the right side for this sweater), using US 7.

Needles:  US 7 16", and US 7 (either your preference of 24" or 32").

Summer Softness is the perfect yarn for this sweater. It is 80% cotton, 20% wool in a chainette construction. It is very light weight and easily a 3-season sweater here in Southern California. Due to the generous ease you could even wear something underneath for even more options!

We will start on Thursday September 3rd at 12 Noon on TLC. We will then also meet every day on Zoom at Noon through September 7th! We hope you are as excited as we are for this wonderful opportunity to be the first to knit this pattern with us here at HOKC!  Each meeting will be recorded, and the recording links will be added below.
