Weaving

a Knitter's Solution to August Heat!

Here are some of the reasons all

knitters love weaving:

1. It is waaaaay faster than knitting! A scarf that takes 60 hours to knit will take only 6 hours to weave (including warping time).

2. It is a great stash buster!! Because it is sooo fast. And you can use up all you bips and bops of left overs.

3. You know all those amazing skeins of variegated yarn that you only have one of -- wow it will make a fabulous scarf!

4. For spinners -- all of your crazy weird early spinning make fantastic additions to your weaving.

5. Color play -- those of you who love color will have a blast with seeing how colors blend on a loom.

You will need a loom...

We will stock the Sample It loom by Ashford and will take special orders on the Knitters Looms. For more info visit Ashford's Website

You can rent a loom...

If you are not sure yet if you want to buy a loom, we will also have several looms for $25 per week. Reserve early!

If you decide you love the loom, we will apply the $25 rental fee to your deposit when you order one from us.

We are carrying Ashford Looms. These lovely looms are made in New Zealand and distributed through a company in Washington. It takes only a couple of days to receive the looms.

August Weaving Classes

Intro to Weaving

If you have not tried weaving before you will want to sign up for one of the two Intro to Weaving Classes. These classes are limited to 6 people so be sure to sign up early!!

While making a set of Mug Rugs, you will learn how to warp a loom, how to estimate yardage, how to load a shuttle, how to weave, and how to tuck in ends.

These classes are limited to 6 people and will sell out, so sign up soon -- just click the date below.

Design your own Tartan

Peggy will help you with how to design a tartan -- the meaning of the colors and weight of color used. You will have a chance to play with color, determine warp and weft, and hopefully get warped in class.

August 9: 11:00 am - 5:00 pm

Warping Board Demo

Warping a loom tends to be the thing that scares newbies the most. But it is not that hard! You will learn in the Intro Classes how to warp directly on your loom. There are times when you want to create a more complex warp and the Warping Board is super handing.

Peggy is offering a free demo of how limited to 12 people!

Weave Tea Towels

Warp only once and create towels that coordinate but are not matchy-matchy! This will be your go to gift -- just warning you now...

Pick up Weaving

It is time to take your plain weaving to another level. Learn to use pick up sticks to add lace and fancy stitches to your weaving. You can create beautiful borders on runners, scarves, etc.
