I have decided to stick with love.
Hate is too heavy a burden to bear.
-- Martin Luther King, Jr.
Yes, we are open today!
We celebrate Martin Luther King's message every day with a store that strives to be warm, welcoming, inclusive, and safe.  Join us today with your favorite fiber art, sit at the table, enjoy a cup of coffee, and enjoy the company!
We are sad and happy to announce MaryAnn Colvey's retirement.  Sad for us -- happy for her!  She has decided to give up her partnership but not her knitting -- you will still see her around when she is not out traveling the world.

Flow Goff and Clover Rogers have arranged to purchase MaryAnn's shares and we are thrilled to welcome them both aboard.  They have lovely, warm, fun, embracing personalities and bring lots of talent to the store -- both knitting and business skills.  Flow is also an accomplished crocheter so we are thrilled that there will be more crochet help!  You will see them most Wednesdays and Saturdays.

January Sweater Knitting
Begins Today!!

This is our fourth year of encouraging people to knit sweaters in January.  Either find a pattern and we will help you through it or join us in a Design your Own Sweater Class.

We have so many new knitters that we decided to choose a very easy style -- the top down yoke sweater.  In class we will be using the Handy Book of Top Down Sweaters by Ann Budd -- it is a template book.  The first class will walk you through how to use the book, key measurements, and a provisional cast on.  There are links below to purchase the book.
Our first two series are sold out.  Please contact us if you would like another series started.

Want to knit a Yoke sweater but just want a pattern?   You are in luck -- this is a very popular style right now.  The latest Vogue Knitting is chock full of this style and there are tons of patters on Ravelry!

We created a thread on Ravelry for questions and pics of your sweaters!  We would love to see what you are up to.  This is the perfect place to ask questions about the Yoke Sweater Classes!  Molly and Charla will moderate the group.

Posting Projects on Ravelry

Posting your projects to Ravelry does more than just track your progress.  It helps other knitters to see how yarn looks once knitted and how different a pattern can look in different yarn.  It helps the designer get more exposure for their patterns.  And it helps your friends remember the name of the patterns they too want to make!  Be sure to share your projects with the HOKC group!
Want free yarn?  This year, for every project you add to Ravelry and share with HOKC's Ravelry Group, we will add your name to a monthly drawing!  You do not need to be present to win -- we will announce winners on our Ravelry Group each month.

Click here for more information on how to post a project.
Stop in today for your 2018 Challenge Booklet!

Were you pinched for time trying to finish gifts this year?  Join the 2018 Challenge!  You will make 12 gifts while exploring new techniques and the chance to win monthly prizes.
