We are so excited to carry Manos del Uruguay!  We will bringing in a new line of their yarns every month or two this year.  

Here is why you need some!  Manos del Uruguay is the only certified Fair Trade yarn company in the world.  They started as a non-profit co op in the late 60s with the goal of creating skilled jobs in rural areas so women can stay in their ancestral homes and earn an income.  The company has grown into a series of co ops where the sheep are raised, sheared, fleeces processed, yarn milled, and dyed all in Uruguay.  Each yarn you buy is signed by the artisan who made it!

Alegria is a soft, fluffy, squishy fingering weight yarn that begs to be knitted -- seriously, you will hear it whispering to you!  We have both tonal and space dyed (their term for variegated) color ways. The skein is a generous 445 yards of superwash Merino and Nylon. Now, I have to say that we have had it for a week and the colors are going fast!

Socks are back in a big way!  And two at a time socks are the best.  This lovely yarn is made in smaller skeins so you can work them two at a time or do some really fun color work.  The skeins are 231 yards, 75% Merino 25% nylon.

Alexandra's Crafts is an amazing Indie Dyer out of Oregon.  Her colors are fabulous!!!  And she created the perfect system for making two at a time socks that are guaranteed to match!  Two balls of yarn are double knitted together and painted.  You knit directly from the blanks.  It is so cool!  We only have a few so come in soon....

I am a passionate fan of Prism Yarns.  Laura Bryant, the dyer, has the best eye for color of anyone I have ever met!  And she is a perfectionist.  Her issue with the way most people made gradient packs is that there are usuallt 4 to 6 skeins so you get a big jump somewhere.  She makes hers with 8 skeins -- seriously, they draw you in they are sooooo pretty!  

The packs are made out of her Merino Mia, a lofty squishy 100% Merino yarn in fingering weight.  The packs are 8 skeins 2 oz each for a total of 1,520 yards.  You can make a small sweater -- or some amazing shawls!
