Knit unique, beautiful beanies from easy-to-follow designs inspired by each state in the U.S.A.
Nancy Bates writes
"Designing hats to represent each of the fifty US States was an exciting yet daunting challenge at first. Where to start? As a Californian, I'm very familiar with the West Coast States, but my exposure to the East Coast had consisted of on- to two-week vacations every few years. I hadn't even been to most of the South or the Midwest. Yet I instinctively knew each state had somethng that made it unique. But what was it? How is Nebraska different from Kansas or Maryland different from Connecticut? Does Ohio have mountains? What color is the Mississippi River? I had so many questions! But with lots of research and by connecting with the people wo live there, I found my answers -- and so much more. The creative and joyful process of bringing the states to life through knitting could begin! The hardest part became choosing just one design for each state."
Knitting the U.S.A. is Nancy's third book of knitted beanie patterns.
